Location Possibilities

Location possibilities

Since our themes were freedom and lost love, we felt very strongly that location would be important. We decided on two types of location; indoors for the dance scenes  and outdoors for the rest of the footage.

We scouted out various different locations, some of them suburban housing estates such as Wildwood. We felt Wildwood was a very built-up area where the colours and tones seemed to have a deadened feel, creating a sad atmosphere. We felt this might be beneficial, as it would successfully convey the sadness and emotion through colours. Not only that, the estate is fairly easy for everyone to access, which would have speeded up filmimg. However, a major disadvantage of filming at Wildwood was the large number of people living on the estate, which meant there would cars around jeopardising our ability display the feeling the isolation the lead singer felt.

Next we considered several more scenic locations such as Cannock Chase, which would easily convey the isolation. However, we would not have anywhere to film the dance routine effectively. In addition there would be difficulties with lighting. As we were planning on filming outside, we would need to enhance the lighting in some way either through reflectors or artificial light sources. This would be extremely difficult to achieve on Cannock Chase due to the lack of a power supply.
The final option we considered was Maizy’s grandparents farm. This appeared to be suitable as it had both right type of scenery for outdoor shots and the barn, which would be appropriate for portraying the trapped relationship.  Also, the farm was fairly easy for us to access.
